LRRP: 21 September 2007

Location: Denver, CO

Situation Update: No rest for the weary. After the Vegas extravaganza we boarded a plane and headed to Denver. KRB rendez-vous’d there with JCS for a brief visit with Nichole and Mollie Barnes. As it was KRBs first visit to the Rocky Mtn state we headed up to the mountains almost immediately. The weather was perfect and the mountain solitude was a welcome respite. We got in a good hike and some rock climbing and finished the day with a camp fire and s’mores.

Location: Las Vegas, NV

Situation Update: After a brief hiatus KRB and JCS are on the move again. This time I escorted KRB on a trip out to Las Vegas for a work conference. I was quite interested to see what sort of “work” she does in Sin City. Sadly it was mostly note taking and lectures.


I was able to kill a few hours at the penny slots and took a stroll in faux Venice. Its a very surreal experience to see gondolas "floating" down indoor venetian landscape. JCS would be horrified at the excessive waste of water.



KRB did seem to have a good time and made the gambling rounds. Eventually I to rein her in. I can say no more, all the rest was left in Vegas.

LRRP: 09 September 2007

Location: Washington DC & Rosslyn, Va

Situation Update: It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the tail end of a busy week-end and the two subjects decided to spend the remaining hours of the day visiting the monuments in DC, with a special stop to Iwo Jima. It was a quiet afternoon with no real agenda, which is a rare occurrence with these two. None of you seem to be capable of stillness.

LRRP 3 September 2007

Location: Nags Head, NC

Situation Update: I have to say Beach Detail has been my favorite so far. For the most part KRB, JCS, and all their friends are completely sedentary. They move in one of two directions. It was either a 2 foot stretch to the cooler for another beer or a 10 yard amble to and from the ocean. This makes them exceedingly easy to monitor and left me with a bit of R&R.

After a quick show of force, lest the Bad Guy be lurking, I did participate in a lazy game of catch with the crew. JCS has quite an arm but no accuracy. KRB's string bikini prevented her participation, which I pointed out was poor planning though she insisted that she had her priorities straight.















































Afterwards I headed off for some fishing and caught a quite sizable catch. JCS and KRB were unimpressed but I dare say I could eat for a month off the marlin I snagged.

LRRP: 1 September 2007

Location: Currituck, NC

Situation Update: We were up at the pre-crack of dawn to head down to Nags Head for the Labor Day week-end. After packing more than one could ever hope to eat, use, or wear in 5 days we were on our way. Despite the car being packed to overflowing we stopped for what is apparently a traditional visit to The Grandy’s Farmer’s Market for fresh fruit and vegetables. Unbeknownst to me this was a DIY Market and I was dispatched to collect the harvest.


The machinery was a bit on the rusty side and required a bit of tractor maintenance. It seems that along with ‘baby sitter’, ‘manual laborer’, and ‘wedding date’ we need to add ‘mechanic’ to my woefully inadequate job description.

LRRP: 31 August 2007

Situation Update: After 8 years, 12 roommates, and more memories than can be counted, Ivy House has been returned to Jeff Scott. Somehow keeping watch over JCS has morphed (twice now) into hauling her stuff from old to new locations. Eight years of life is a lot of exceedingly heavy boxes. We carried, we cleaned, we vacated.





There was little time for sentiment and to be honest I am not sure JCS felt anything but utter exhaustion. She did mention something about missing her stumbling distance from all the Clarendon watering holes but that other than that she was taking all the meaningful things from Ivy House with her. And although it is against policy to drink while on duty I felt it only fitting to drink a toast to the four walls that both you and JCS have called home.

LRRP: 26 August 2007

Location: Landover, MD

Situation Update: In an effort to gather more intel on the mysterious Bad Guy/suspicious bad dresser who has been lurking about I took a calculated risk and allowed JCS to head to Charlottesville unattended. The assumption was that this would draw the Bad Guy out into the open as he would assume that I had escorted JCS out of town and left KRB on her own. It has been this situation in the past that has prompted his appearance.

Unfortunately he did not make an appearance and I spent the day frittering about at 6 Flags with KRB and friends. The crowds and general mayhem made it a challenging detail. I was informed by KRB that this was very similar to the challenge Kevin Costner had to deal with in The Bodyguard. I have no idea what she’s talking about and I did not pursue it any further.

I will confess that this trip did yield one upside . . .
